Lovable
Build websites, portals, and internal tools without hiring a developer.
WHAT IT DOES
AI-powered web building. Describe what you want in plain language and Lovable builds it — websites, landing pages, volunteer portals, intake forms, program trackers. The workflow is similar to ChatGPT: prompt, generate, refine.
No developer required. You don’t need to write code or hire someone who does. A tech-comfortable staff member can build functional web tools that would normally require a freelance developer or agency.
Beyond just websites. Internal tools, member portals, scholarship review systems, event registration pages — the kind of lightweight solutions that big vendors don’t address and spreadsheets can’t handle well.
WHY WE RECOMMEND IT
We built with it. Much of the Proimpact Project website was built using Lovable. We’ve experienced firsthand what it can do — and we feel like we’ve only scratched the surface.
Solves the sector’s core problem. This isn’t just about doing more with AI. It’s about solving the fundamental challenge of nonprofit teams being stretched too thin. Lovable lets small teams build and execute at a level that used to require headcount they can’t afford.
We recommend it to everyone. Inside the nonprofit sector and outside it — anyone who mentions building a website, we point them to Lovable. That’s how strongly we feel about it.
BEST FIT
Need a website or web tool. If your organization needs a website, landing page, portal, or internal tool and you don’t have developer resources, this is where to start.
At least one tech-comfortable person. You need someone willing to experiment with AI-powered building. It’s not hard, but it does require a prompt-and-iterate mindset.
Replacing overused spreadsheets. If you’re managing program intakes, volunteer matching, or scholarship reviews in spreadsheets, Lovable can turn those workflows into proper tools.
WHEN THIS ISN’T THE RIGHT FIT
Complex custom business logic. Lovable can get you 70–80% of the way there on most projects. If you need complex integrations, custom rules, or enterprise-grade infrastructure, you’ll still need a developer for the last mile.
No one to own it. Someone on your team needs to be willing to learn the prompt-and-iterate workflow. If that person doesn’t exist, the tool won’t get used.
HOW IT FITS THE LANDSCAPE
Between no-code and a developer. More capable than Airtable or Softr for building real web applications. Less expensive and faster than hiring a freelance developer. The sweet spot is projects that are too complex for no-code but don’t justify a full dev engagement.
Start with a good prompt. Like any AI tool, the quality of your input drives the quality of the output. Start with a clear description of what you need, then iterate from there.
BOARD-READY CASE
Build without adding headcount. Enables small teams to create websites, portals, and tools that would normally require a developer — without hiring one.
Proof it works. The Proimpact Project website was built with Lovable. It’s not theoretical — it’s how we operate.
A new category of capability. Represents a fundamental shift in what small organizations can build for themselves with AI.
